Questioning Where to Start - Post 4

Genre? Plot?  After learning more about some genres, now I have to start thinking about what genre the film should fall under. In addition to genre, I have to thinking of a plot or story. The film may only last for two minutes, but I am required to convey a story to showcase to an audience. Before making a decision, I need to consider my resources and capabilities to film. Where can I shoot the movie? How can I learn to edit and use cinematography? Should I have many actors or actresses or only stick to one? I also must consider the state of the world in the pandemic since most places have restrictions. Needless to say, there are many factors I have to go through and evaluate before picking up the camera. To be honest, I don't know where to start or what to choose from. I really need to think everything over and discuss with my teammates what I should pursue with.

Different Genres - Post 3

Today in class I learned more about different genres and film, and I'm glad I got to learn more about them. This makes me more knowledgeable and helps me be more informed about which genre to choose for my own film. The genres I learned today are: adventure, action, comedy, crime and gangster, drama, epics/historical, horror, musical, war, westerns, and science fiction. Adventure is a genre that leaves the audience excited with the story lines and journey of the character. The characters are seen travelling around areas to find something, whether it be a person, place, or a desirable object. Action is a genre that consists of fast-paced situations and events such as fights, battles, stunts, and just tend to have high energy overall. Comedy is a film in which the audience is influenced to laugh or find the film humorous and entertaining. Expectations - Post 2

Hey, it's me again; Jadan, I'm certain that if someone were to willingly choose to create a film, they should have some sort of knowledge on film-making, right? Or at least know how to use an expensive camera, correct? Well, that's not the case with me. I've never had any experience with wanting to record and create a story through videos. I believe the only advantage I have that'll help me are my artistic views and mindset. I like to draw and paint as well as listen to all kinds of music. With my perspective, I can confidently say that the movie won't be too bad. What I'm looking forward to in this project is learning how to edit videos, create a small plot or story line, and executing the whole process like a real director. I love watching movies and observing the quality of the cinematography and what the movie director is trying to convey to the audience. It's such a cool way of capturing the essence of art and expression. Having to create one of m

Introduction - Post 1

Introduction Hello, my name is Jadan,     The purpose of this blog is to record my progress and the process of creating an original film piece for the AICE Media Studies class.     For this class, I will be creating an opening of a film that will last for around two minutes. Although I will be working in a team of three, this film will be my own individual piece with only my creative input; my other teammates will be my guide and support throughout the process. Since I consider myself to be an artistic person, I'm confident that my passion for the arts will be a great advantage to express myself the best ways I can. I hope to learn and even excel in the techniques of editing in order to successfully create my piece since that is a major factor in film-making.     My main tasks include:     - Work together with my team as one unit by giving feedback and asking for their input, but also work diligently on my individual piece.     - Record and reflect on all my progress throughout t
