Different Genres - Post 3

 Today in class I learned more about different genres and film, and I'm glad I got to learn more about them. This makes me more knowledgeable and helps me be more informed about which genre to choose for my own film.

The genres I learned today are: adventure, action, comedy, crime and gangster, drama, epics/historical, horror, musical, war, westerns, and science fiction.

Adventure is a genre that leaves the audience excited with the story lines and journey of the character. The characters are seen travelling around areas to find something, whether it be a person, place, or a desirable object.

Action is a genre that consists of fast-paced situations and events such as fights, battles, stunts, and just tend to have high energy overall.

Comedy is a film in which the audience is influenced to laugh or find the film humorous and entertaining. These films carry out the humor by exaggerating things like relationships, stories, people, etc.

Crime and Gangster films tend to revolve around the actions and point of views of criminals. Tropes such as secret agents, spies, mobsters, etc. follow this genre as well as detectives, police officers, and other law-abiding professions.

Drama is a genre that are serious and have intense plots. The characters, relationships, and situations in these movies try to portray real-life events to induce character-development.

Epics/Historicals are films that deal with history around the world, not limited to only one country or continent. Also, they tend to show historical moments that shaped history as we know it today.

Horror films invoke our fears, provide cathartic experiences, and are designed to scare the audience.

Musical is a genre that uses choreography and songs to give the audience a cinematic experience through the narrative. 

War films have their plots and background be developed through combat and fighting to portray the main themes of humanity.

Westerns are films that helped to define the days of expansive American frontier and the death of it.

Science fiction are films that show imagination, visionary creativity, and out-of-world stories. These elements can also include technology and its potential to to improve or destroy mankind.

Failed Attempt - Post 25

  This was my first attempt at making my preliminary video. I recorded this on December 5th, 2020. This was created entirely on a whim without much discussion and planning (which is very evident).  Although I'd say the camera shots and movements were decent, but the plot, acting, and execution were subpar in my opinion. My peers also agreed when I showed them the video that I could've done a better film opening, and that's when I decided to take it more seriously and redo everything from scratch.

Creative Critical Reflection 3 - Post 41

 -  How did your production skills develop throughout this project? CCR 3 - Jadan Cedeno.pptx Throughout this project, for my draft and final film production, I used two different mobile editing apps for my phone. For my draft, I used VivaCut and for my final I used CapCut. I transitioned because I wanted to used an editing app that doesn't include their watermark or logo in the corner throughout the whole film video, so CapCut was the best choice. Due to my past experience editing, using the new app wasn't difficult at all; very simple.  As for my skills, I can see my development when comparing my two film videos. In my draft, I just shot it by the textbook and wasn't very considerate of important factors like setting and props. I directed a film opening that can be considered as criminal/mafia, yet, the settings, props, costumes, and mise en scene in general did not fit the match.
